New eco build artist’s studio, Gloucestershire

The client was a painter, who wanted a studio within her garden that would provide space and light for working, and also plenty of storage space.

The main house was a listed building, and the whole site was within a Conservation Area. In order to minimise the impact within the site, without compromising on the design, the studio was set into an existing bank within the garden.

Three-metre high folding glass doors allowed for views across the garden from the studio, with additional natural light provided by skylights.

A sedum roof helped the studio merge into the garden from the adjacent public footpath at the rear.
